The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center has prepared a report about tour bus management. The report contains a chapter of best management practices from other jurisdictions. It also contains a chapter about policies and facilities that could be created in the District to enhance tourism while minimizing negative impacts on neighborhoods and infrastructure. A stakeholders meeting for tour bus companies, associations, museums, government agencies and ANCs will be held December 17, 2003 at 10:00 am. At this meeting, the Volpe Report will be presented and discussed.

A broader meeting for the public will be held January 14, 2004, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. From 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, there will be informal discussion. From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm, people can make formal statements about their reaction to the report. In particular, we are anxious to hear about which recommendations should be implemented, which ones should be dropped, and which ones may have been overlooked or omitted.
