Canal Road Lanes to Be Closed Thursday
Weather permitting, one westbound lane of Canal Road, at the Georgetown University entrance, will be closed from 10 am to 12:30 pm; one eastbound lane will be closed from 12:30 to 3 pm. The closings are for the final paving of the cut in the Canal Road median strip at the Georgetown University entrance.
The cut in the median is exclusively for excavation trucks to make a left turn on to Canal Road as they exit the campus to carry material across the Key Bridge. In order to prevent non-permitted use of the cut, the break will be clearly marked during use and barricaded when not in use. The digging is for a new 780-bed dorm on the southwest quadrangle of the university.
If it rains on Thursday, the work will take place on Friday, Dcember 1.
