District Takes Precautionary Measures on City Streets

Morning snowfall is expected to mix with rain and taper off by this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Anticipated accumulation is less than one inch of slush. The District's Department of Public Works has mobilized 36 salt-spreading trucks to treat bridges, overpasses and major rush hour streets.

Leslie Hotaling, Interim Director of DPW, says that the city is prepared and all operations, including trash collection, are proceeding normally. "We expect everything to go smoothly, " said Ms. Hotaling. "We have deployed salt spreading trucks as a precaution to make sure that streets are safe for rush hour commuters and residents."
