27th Street is Reopened
District Continues Recovery from August Floods
27th Street, NW, closed between Military Road and Broad Branch Road, was reopened on Friday, September 28, with the completion of temporary repairs to the bridge that was washed out by the torrential rains of August 11.
The reopening is part of the city-wide effort to speed recovery from the August floods. The District Department of Transportation and the DC Emergency Management Agency worked closely together to restore the roadway, guardrails, and embankment. The repair cost about $20,000, and the District has applied to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for reimbursement.
DDOT will consult with the community as plans for a permanent repair are developed.
