The Georgetown Project Begins Holiday Moratorium

The Georgetown Project will break for its annual holiday construction moratorium from November 27 through January 5, 2003.

Project work on M Street and Wisconsin Avenue will end at 7:30 am on November 27 and will resume at 10:30 pm on January 5. The moratorium is a key feature in the project's ongoing efforts to minimize disruption for businesses, residents and visitors.

"The moratorium during the holiday season will make it easier for visitors and residents alike to enjoy all the sights, sounds and celebrations that Georgetown has to offer this time of year," said Karyn Good, communication manager and spokesperson for the project.

During the moratorium the District Department of Transportation will lift the 10:30 pm to 7:30 am construction-related parking restrictions on M Street and Wisconsin Avenue. However, regular posted Georgetown parking signage will be enforced. The Georgetown Project—related parking restrictions and traffic control will be reinstated on Jan. 5.

Steel plates will be removed from the streets until the project resumes in January, and street and sidewalk surfaces will be restored to provide complete access.
