South Capitol Street Corridor Public Meeting
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites the public to an introductory meeting as we explore ways to transform the South Capitol Street Corridor. DDOT is seeking ideas from the community as part of the South Capitol Street Gateway and Improvement Study of possible roadway, transit, bicycle, pedestrian and other transportation improvements for South Capitol Street between Independence Avenue and Suitland Parkway and on New Jersey Avenue between Independence Avenue and M Street. This public meeting will be a forum for the surrounding community to learn about the study process and provide their ideas about the opportunities and problems in the study area.

Van Ness Elementary School is located at the corner of 5th and M Streets, SE. The school is five blocks east of the Navy Yard Metrorail station and is accessible by the N22, P1, P2, V7, and V9 Metrobus routes. This location is accessible to persons with limited mobility and disabilities. Any person having special needs or requiring special aid, such as an interpreter for the hearing impaired, is requested to contact DDOT by phone or mail one week in advance (before October 10).
