Hearing Set on Washington-Baltimore Maglev Line

The District of Columbia Department of Transportation announces a public hearing on the proposed Washington-Baltimore Maglev train line:

  • What: Hearing on Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on Washington-Baltimore Maglev.
  • Where/When: 5 PM (open house at 4 PM), December 15th, Room A-10, Martin Luther King, Jr., Library, 901 G Street, NW.
  • Maglev is the new magnetic levitation railroad technology that lifts cars above the guideway and propels them at over 250 mph. District passengers would board trains at Union Station, reach BWI in about 11 minutes and Camden Yards, Baltimore, in 19 minutes. One-way tickets be $14-to-$28 while Amtrak charges $14-$42.

    The DEIS, a joint undertaking of DDOT and the Maryland Transit Administration, was recently released and approved for public comment by the Federal Railroad Administration.
