Public Invited to Evaluate L'Enfant Promenade Options

The District Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration invite the public to review proposals, ranging from routine maintenance to rehabilitation, major modification and total replacement, to improve L'Enfant Promenade. The meeting will be on:

Wednesday July 30th, 4:00 to 7:00 pm, at Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, Ballroom D, 480 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W. Washington, DC

The Federal Highway Administration, Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division, (FHWA EFLHD) has started an Environmental Assessment on the potential environmental impacts associated with these alternatives for L'Enfant Promenade and 10th Street Overlook, between Independence Ave. and Water St., S.W. The meeting will provide a forum for nearby residents, tenants and employees of L'Enfant Promenade and others to review and comment on the transportation and related improvements being evaluated by DDOT and FHWA in the EA.

Additional information about the preliminary alternatives and the EA will be available at the meeting and on the following web sites: DDOT's L'Enfant Study, US DOT's Planning

The contacts for the study are: Mr. Jack Van Dop, FHWA, 21400 Ridgetop Circle, Sterling, VA 20166-6511, fax (703) 404-6217, e-mail, and Ms. Heather Brophy, DDOT, 2000 14th St., NW, 7th fl. Washington, DC 20009, 202 271 2227, e-mail. Comments are welcome at the meeting and until August 30, 2003
