DDOT constructs and maintains District-owned roadways, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and alleys.
Street reconstruction, resurfacing, and/or upgrading projects are identified and budgeted based upon pavement condition index surveys performed by DDOT, and other pertinent factors, such as vibration complaints and community needs.
Roadways receive spot-resurfacing after a high number of complaints have been made or when pavement condition surveys indicate that the roadway is bumpy or damaged.
Potholes and other dangerous conditions are prioritized and repaired or made safe within 72 hours. Requests are received from residents and street construction/maintenance crews who routinely file reports on their tours of city streets.
